Insulation is a relatively low cost solution that can significantly reduce your homes energy usage. Fitting loft insulation to an un-insulated ventilated loft can save up to £145 a year and insulating cavity walls could save a further £115 a year. You can also benefit from the additional benefits of acoustic control and fire protection

Efficient options include Glass mineral wool insulation made from 86% recycled glass, Rockwool made primarily from volcanic rock an abundant natural resource or natural Sheep wool.

Each type has particular benefits and using the correct insulation is important. Rayners can help in advising you as well as offer information on possible subsidised grants available

External wall insulation while more costly is also an effective method with the advantage of being able to cover the substrate with a decorative rendered finish.

See Rayners other divisions: Rayner Solar and Rayner Roofing for more ways of maximising the efficiency of your home by utilising renewable energy through solar panel installations, and the benefits of green roofs and grass roofs to your home and the environment

The UK has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 80% by 2050. Just over a quarter of the UK's carbon emissions come from our homes.

Around a third of all the heat lost in an un-insulated home is lost through the walls. Over 7 million homes currently do not have any wall insulation
